Every year we take pictures of the kids with Santa. Usually this is at the ward Christmas party because we never have time or energy to go to the mall. Here are our sweet children with everyone's favorite friend.

Caden liked him and told him all the things he wanted.

Jillian has always loved Santa. She'd sit on his lap forever if he let her.

"Maddie, where are you?" She said she'd go if Bryan went with her. They started walking together and then he turned around and she was hiding behind me in the back.

Eden couldn't get away from him fast enough.

We tried really hard to take some cute family pictures for Christmas cards. After an exhausting time and a lot of silly faces these were the best we came up with.

Eden refused to let me leave her side. I tried to get one of just the kids, but she was having none of that.

Bryan tried to get her to let me go, but she wasn't too happy with that either.

We went inside where it was warmer and this is what the crazies did when I said, "Smile!"

We are huge Giants fans and were so blessed to receive free tickets for our family to go to a game! We had so much fun being there as a family. The kids played baseball on the kiddie field, went down the big slides and loved sitting in their seats. Caden was SO excited to get his orange panda hat and the Giants won to make it such an awesome night! Wahoo!

Eden's 2nd birthday was such a blast! My girls love Lalaloopsy dolls so having a "Lala" party was just what Eden wanted. We had different stations for the kids to make Lalaloopsy pencil toppers, color Lalaloopsy pages, make Lalaloopsy bottlecap necklaces, play Lalaloopsy Memory game, decorate pots & plant flower seeds and to decorate sugar cookies. It was so fun!

Jillian Marie is my oldest daughter. She is the sweetest, funniest, most caring and compassionate girl. She is so loving, is sensitive to everyone's feelings and is always helping/mothering her siblings. She is also such a beautiful girl. When I came across these while downloading pictures I was just blown away with how grown up she is! I miss my little baby girl, but am so lucky she's still my sweetheart. I love you Jillian!

Eden turned 2 on Saturday and I'm still in shock. I can't believe my baby girl is getting so big! She's been such a snuggly little Mama's girl her whole life so I still think she's my little baby. It's just not fair that she has to grow up so fast! She is so full of personality and is constantly cracking us up and keeping us entertained. She is also the lovingest girl ever. She comforts anyone who is hurt or sad and will yell at anyone who hurts her sisters. We are so lucky to have her and hope she always knows how incredibly loved she is!

Having girls can be hard. They are more dramatic, more tempermental and much more expensive!!! But they are also so loving, funny and when they're together it's the sweetest thing in the world! They take care of each other, have more fun together and are little mommies to each other. I love always having someone who'll snuggle with me, let me read to them, paint nails with, never have to do my make-up alone, etc.

I have 3 sisters and as much drama as we had growing up, they truly are my very best friends. They are all so different, but I always have exactly what I need for every occassion. So for all the complaints I've said for my girls and my sisters I'm sorry. Heavenly Father really knew what he was doing. I love all the girls in my life and am so thankful for for each one of them.

Seattle baby!

My best friend BJ and I went to Seattle for a much needed weekend away. We had so much fun and fell in love the beautiful city with it's amazing weather. We definitely missed our families, but loved our time to do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted!

Back To School

We are Back To School again. The kids started last week and it's been such an adjustment getting back to bedtimes, waking up early and not getting to snack all day! Eden's been having a hard time not having her 3 best friends to play with all day. She's become my little shadow, but we're having a good time together.

Maddie loved going back to school. She is so happy being busy, learning new things and being with her friends. She loves her teachers and looks forward to picking out her clothes each night before bed.

Jillian is so happy to be a first grader. She loves playing on the "Big Kid Playground" and seeing her old friends. She's having a hard time with having to stay there all day though. She's been so tired every day when I pick her up.

Caden couldn't be happier since going back to school. He loves fourth grade, loves his new teacher, loves being there an extra hour and especially loves getting to walk home alone! He thinks he's so big now!

I've been a horrible blogger this year and I know it and apologize for it. I'm trying to get caught up so here's a little of what we did this spring.

Easter at my parents with cousins.

During Spring Break we made homemade sugar cookies and frosting. The kids had a blast making their own masterpieces and especially enjoyed eating them!

Caden is the BIGGEST Giants fan there is and he and Bryan have been to 2 games so far this year.

Bowling: I took the kids bowling for $1 day and they had a blast! Even Eden had to have her turn bowling each round. Maddie blew everyone away with her high score of 113!

Caden is the biggest SF Giants baseball fan in the world so it's no wonder when asked what he wanted to do for his birthday party he said, "Baseball!" We rented the batting cages and pitching mounds at the local baseball place and invited his friends and family to come play ball!

Today my baby boy is 9! I can't believe how fast he's growing up! It feels like just last year I was pregnant with him, worried about being a mom and wondering what he'd be like. Nursery's traumatized Eden

My sweet Eden has finally turned 18 months and I've been so excited for her to start nursery at church. She's been a very difficult baby/toddler and I just want one week where I can actually listen to a lesson in Sunday School or Relief Society. For months she's been begging to go in the nursery room and play with all the kids and toys. Well, for some reason she must know that at 18 months she goes permanently. Today I'm walking down the hall and get close to the room and she clenches onto my shirt and starts freaking out. I can't even walk in the room and she's already throwing a fit. I finally get her calmed down and try to leave. I get around the corner, down the hall in the Relief Society room with the doors closed. About 2 minutes later I can hear her screaming from all the way in the Nursery room. I run in there and she latches on for dear life. I get her calmed down, playing with toys and try to sneak out again. I don't even make it 30 seconds before I can't bear to hear her screaming anymore. I end up staying all of nursery with her and when it's over I have a scout meeting. I go to pass her off to Bryan and she freaks out again. All day she's been my little shadow and then at bedtime she freaked out again. She never cries at bedtime and today she screamed for 15 minutes before I gave in and picked her up. She cuddled into my chest and just whimpered like she was terrified. It broke my heart. My sweet baby thinks I'm going to leave her. I don't even know if I should attempt nursery again.

Latest Project: BIRTHDAY BOARD

A friend of mine showed me this idea she found on another blog about a birthday board. I thought it sounded like a great idea so 3 of us worked together and made these. I had to work my butt off to get it done for Jillian's birthday, but I got it done and we had a BLAST celebrating her for her birthday week. She felt so special/loved and the other kids can't wait until their birthdays!

I set this up 1 week before the birthday.

This is the back and what shows on the actual birthday.

Countdown from 6 to 1 for the week before.

Birthday person gets to pick meals for the week before the big day.

Each day there is an activity to do as a family to celebrate the birthday person.

1. Decorate the house for the birthday 2. Fun Family Night of games, movies, treats... 3. Date Night with Mom or Dad

4. Make a sign, etc to show why you love the birthday person 5. Family Home Evening: night of pictures, videos, stories about the birthday person 6. Read birthday book and have special treat

Each of the 6 days before the birthday the birthday person gets to open a little present: stickers, dvd, coupon for staying up an extra hour at night, candy bar, etc.

Decorations: we made wood letters to spell "Wish" and attached clothes pins to the back to hold pictures of the birthday person

We Love Jillian sign- everyone wrote why they love her and we put it on the door.

Jillian wanted to get her nails done for her birthday party. So we invited her 4 best friends and went right after kindergarten. They got pampered at the nail salon with manicures, pedicures and ended up with the cutest hands and feet! Then we went to Jillian's favorite build it yourself yogurt shop and let the girls create their own dessert. It was such a fun party and the girls had a blast!

American Girl- LA

This weekend I took Maddie and Jillian to American Girl in LA. We went with a big group of friends and had the best time! We stayed in a hotel and the kids loved running around together, going up and down the elevator and stairs and playing with their dolls. We had a blast at the American Girl store. The girls had their dolls hair done, took pictures in the doll studio, ate at the delicous cafe, and loved shopping for goodies with their birthday money. It was such a perfect weekend!

I LOVE Valentine's Day! This year I wanted to be more creative so I put my new Cricut to use and got crafty!

I made my first banner!

I made cards!

I made a table display!

I asked the kids if they wanted to make Valentines or buy them. It was unanimous that they wanted to make them. Here's what we came up with.

Caden: he learned to use a paper cutter, wrapped all the bars, glued them with glue dots and put everything together. The only thing I did was buy the paper and make the robot label.

Jillian: she put everything together by herself. I only bought the stuff and printed out the labels.

Madelyn: she helped scoop the M&Ms in the bags and learned how to tie on the bows. What a big helper she was!

I AM SO SORRY THAT I NEVER SAW THE COMMENTS ON HERE!!!
- I bought the shovels on ebay. I searched plastic shovels and bought an auction that sold them in a lot of 36. The shovels were about 3 inches wide and 7 inches tall.
- I did make a blank page with "I Dig U!" circles. I used a 2 inch scallopped punch. If the picture is too pixelly please comment on one of my recent blog posts with your email address and I'll send you the jpeg.

Our Favorite New Toy!

Our friends moved to Washington DC and so we were blessed with an unexpected gift this Christmas. The kids love this swingset and I love the sanity I get with them being outside! It's been the best thing ever! They will spend hours outside playing and since we've had an unusually dry and warm January they are getting tons of use out of it.

Last night was Caden's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby! He worked so hard designing, cutting, sanding, painting and adding weights to his car. He had a blast racing it and seeing all the other cars. He's already wanting to start working on another car for next year!

I know I'm really late to be posting Christmas pics, but things are always so busy around here! We had a fabulous Christmas this year! The kids sure must have been good because Santa got them just what they wanted! We had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed playing with toys, singing Christmas carols and seeing family later that day. Flashback Fotos- Hand Me Downs

My mom found clothes she had saved from when my sisters and I were kids. I tried on a bunch for fun and they sure are groovy! Some are super cute and I'm going to have my girls wear, but others we all had a good laugh at.

Madelyn's laughing in the first one saying, "I'm wearing PAJAMAS!", the second is super cute and will be worn with jean capris and the third we all laughed at.

I remember wearing this outfit Maddie has on to preschool. It's velvet and the top has rows of white eyelet ruffles. Maddie said, "I'm going to a WEDDING!"

Jillian's wearing a white dress as a top. I'll have her wear it with jean capris. She was really sad that only one thing fit her.

My mom has a picture of my sister Amanda wearing that rainbow striped shirt. I remember Sara wearing that whale outfit. I think it's super cute on Eden, but Bryan said, "No way." for her wearing it this Summer. Little does he know I already put it in her drawer! The last is a purple velvet dress with lots of lace. We all laughed and Bryan's offered me $5 if I have Eden wear it one day to church.

I think the tulip overalls are sweet! The dress is so short! My mom said that was the style, but seriously, that is way too short! The last is a whole lot of pastel plaid corduroy. It's a little big, but she'll wear it.

That heart shirt with lace is awful! We all cringed when she put it on. The pink polka dot dress is super cute and perfect for hot Summer days. The red jacket is super cute, but it doesn't have a button or zipper. She keeps taking it off.

The first two were fun to see her in and brought back memories. Sara used to wear that red and white dress set. The last one is a dress, but looks so cute with jean capris. Love the purple smocking!

The first one is awful, but Eden loved it! She was so happy running around the house in it! The jean overalls are so stinking cute! My mom has the cutest picture of Alyssa wearing them! They're too long, but she'll wear them when they fit! The last one is not very cute, but I might use the top with some different shorts.

The pajamas are way too small and totally pilled, but my kids were so excited to see that I used to wear footed pajamas too! The lavender overalls are so sweet!

Cutest thing ever! Eden found this hat from Caden's Halloween costume and put it on herself. She freaked out as soon as it was on and turned into this crazy dancing, singing girl! It was the funniest thing ever! She'd dance in circles moving all over the house. Then the hat would fall off and she'd say, "Hat! Hat!" and put it back on then do it all over again!

Like the previous Christmas card, if it looks skeezy when nobody is pregnant, then a baby bump ain't saving it so don't do it. A helpful holiday tip we can all tuck in our pockets.

A different kind of drug problem...

Read this and thought it was a great story with some good insights on parenting:

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farm house in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, ”Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?” I replied: ”But I did have a drug problem when I was a kid growing up on the farm.”

I had a drug problem when I was young: I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher. Or if I didn’t put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me. I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane four letter word. I was drug out to pull weeds in mom’s garden and flower beds and cocklebursout of dad’s fields.

I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline or chop some fire wood. And if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the wood shed.

Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today’s children had this kind of drug problem, America might be a better place today.

Can you believe it's already November? You know what that means...Christmas is just around the corner!!! I have a few things that are MUST HAVES for the Christmas season and this year I can get them all done at Shutterfly. Last month we went to a super fun water park right before the kids started school. It's only 45 minutes away and we'll definitely be going back next summer. It was perfect because it was a smaller version and geared to kids. There were about 8 water slides Caden could go on, 5 for Jillian, 3 for Maddie and a baby pool for Eden. There was a ropes course Caden & Jillian loved and an Olympic size pool that Eden and I did laps in. Everyone had a blast and the best part was it was only $5/person!

It was really quiet while Eden was napping. I went in the front room and found Maddie exactly like this. I said, "What are you doing up there? You're not allowed to climb up on the kitchen!" Today was Maddie's first day of preschool. She was so excited to go and be a big kid like Caden and Jillian. She was also really excited to have her cousin Cooper in her class. Today my little boy turned 8! I can't believe he is so big! He got to choose what we did today and it was perfect (for him that is.)
1. Breakfast- chocolate chip pancakes
2. Wii- played all morning long
3. Lunch- picked up McDonald's and took it to the park. Picniced and played there.
4. Went to Aunt Sara's house to play baseball with Uncle Todd and Cooper, played more Wii and played with all their cool toys.
5. Went to his favorite Mexican place for dinner. Then went to Chiliberries for frozen yogurt sundaes.

Caden is very excited to get baptized on Saturday and then to have his birthday party that night. He loves baseball and was selected to tryout for the all-star team. He received the game ball in his last game for the second time this year. He got the only hit of the game and pitched so good, not allowing any runs. He just finished 2nd grade and starts Cub Scouts this week. What a busy boy!

Jillian is so funny about softball. She loves to tell people that she plays and that her team "wins" every game. But in reality she loves the snack that comes after the game and digging in the dirt during the game. She really has no idea what's going on around her and unless the ball comes right at her and disrupts her digging she won't go after the ball.

The coach has everyone play every position and when it was Jillian's turn to catch it was hilarious. She stood at home plate and refused to move. When the ball was thrown home she would watch it roll by her and then point to the coach for her to pick it up. The coach would hand it to Jillian and then she'd put it back on the tee. When I asked her why she made her coach pick up all the balls she said, "It was so heavy with all the stuff on me so I didn't want to move." Since then she flat out tells the coach, "No!" when he tries to have her catch during the game.

She does like hitting and running the bases though. She says, "I run like thunder because I'm super fast." It really is so comical to watch her games.

It's been a while since I posted so here's what's new with us:
BRYAN- super busy with work and rarely home (wait a second, that's not new.)
STEPHANIE- just got released from her calling as YW 1st counselor (so sad to leave the Young Women!)
CADEN- loving baseball (playing and watching on tv.) His team has won 3 out of the last 4 games and he's been hitting and scoring runs like crazy.
JILLIAN- preschool field trips to a play (Beauty and the Beast), Straw Hat Pizza and this week to a Stockton Ports baseball game. She graduates this month and can't wait to start kindergarten.
MADELYN- "I a grumpy girl Mom and a cute girl" is her new way of describing herself. I have to say it's a good thing she's cute cause she is a GRUMP these days and I want to sell her on Craigslist most of the time.
EDEN- 6 months old and sitting up, rolling all over the place (keeps hitting her head on the wall, cabinets, toys, etc.), moving her hands and bouncing like she wants to start crawling and eating solid foods. Right now she likes rice cereal, but not vegetables.

Did you notice that all the eggs were PINK? That's right, Maddie would only touch the pink eggs. We went to a huge city egg hunt on Saturday and Maddie ran around only picking up the pink eggs. It was hilarious. There were tons of kids running around like crazy trying to grab all the eggs they could find and then there was Maddie. She carefully looked around for the pink eggs and collected them. Then on Sunday she did it again. She would spot a pink egg and say, "My favorite color! PINK!" She picked up all the pink eggs then stood there and watched everyone else pick up the other eggs. I said, "Maddie go get some more eggs." She said, "No, I only like the pink ones."

Chicken Little

She spends most her time playing in the dirt, but then looks up as soon as the ball is hit and is able to grab it and throw it to the right base. Then she's right back to playing in the dirt.

Jillian had an ice cream birthday party this afternoon. Ice cream is her favorite treat in the world and Rainbow Sherbet is her favorite flavor. So she decided she wanted an ice cream party. I made her a cake with two scoops and think it turned out pretty cute. She and her 16 friends had fun making ice cream sundaes, decorating treat bags, playing games, eating cake, opening presents and running around like crazy monkeys. She had a great day being center of attention and now can't wait to play with all the presents she got!

Today my princess turned 5. She is very excited about it, but it breaks my heart. I just can't believe how fast the time is going by. We asked her what she wanted to do for dinner tonight. I told her I could make anything she wanted or we could go out to dinner. Bryan said, "We could go to Texas Roadhouse, Chevy's, Applebee's, Chuck E. Maddie loves to be naked. Now that she's potty training she loves to wear panties. The only problem is that's all she wants to wear. I can't tell you how many people have come over and found her in nothing but panties. The mailman, UPS, Young Women's presidency, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. On Saturday, Bryan was taking the kids to the park. He told Maddie she had to get dressed if she wanted to go. Well, this is how she came out. She said, "I ready go to park now!" Not only was she still in her panties, but she had on sandels. It was 50 degrees outside and she started crying when we told her she had to put clothes on and real shoes. She cried, "I already got dressed!"

To Facebook, or not to Facebook. That is the question.

I know that I'm probably the last person on the planet without a Facebook account and that is why I'm posting this. I have some close friends here in town who are all Facebook buddies and they are begging me to join. I've held out for so long, but now I'm wondering if I should just break down and do it. What do you think?

Here are my reasons for not doing it:

1. Bryan doesn't really care, but he spends so much time cleaning up viruses at work from people on Facebook that he'd rather I not do it.
2. I have no time for anything else.
3. I don't want to have crazies find me. One of my best friends accepted a friend request from an "old friend" and it turned out he was a stalker.
4. I'm a horrible blogger so I'll probably be a terrible Facebooker too.
5. I'm scared of opening myself up to the online world. Blogging is already scary enough. I've heard horror stories and don't want to put my family at risk. (I know I'm a little crazy!)

Reasons for doing it:
1. Keep up with my friends & family.
2. See what all the hype is about.
3. My friend Karin is friends with Gap and gets coupons that I don't. My sister is friends with Babies R Us and got a free $5 giftcard. I want freebies too!
4. Eventually my kids will want accounts so I'll need to keep an eye on them.

I Did Something New!

I'll be the first to admit that I'm horrible at doing my girls' hair. I can do pig tails and the side clip, but other than that I'm clueless. My sister in law, Jeanine, showed me how to do a side ponytail and that was the first change I'd done in years. Well, yesterday I decided to try something new, a braid! My girls hair isn't long enough or even enough to do a whole braid so I tried one on the side and I think it turned out pretty cute. I'm so excited to have tried it myself and that it turned out cute. Now I know my creative hair friends (BJ, Sadie, Melissa, Mimi, Alyssa, etc) will think I'm lame, but I'm pretty darn excited right now!

Jillian said, "Mom, I love my braid! Who taught you how to do that?" I said, "No one, I just did it." She said, "Wow! You were a teacher AND you know how to braid!" Who knew those two things were enough to impress her.

Who doesn't love Footed Pajamas?

Believe it or not, all my kids love footed pajamas. Caden, my 7 1/2 year old was so jealous that all his sisters had footed pajamas that he started begging for a pair of his own. His loving father told him that he was too old to wear them and that it was ridiculous for him to be asking for them. His loving mother told him that if the Carter's outlet (the place she buys them for the girls) had his size then she'd buy them for him. She thought she was being nice, but never imagined that they would have them. Well, last weekend after having Caden beg over and over to go look she finally gave in. They pulled up to the outlet and believe it or not they had a sidewalk sale going on and right in front were boys footed pajamas. Caden sprinted out of the car and started searching the rack. He yelled out "They have a 7 Mom! Look! Can I have them please?" I smiled and said, "Sure." We bought them (they were on sale for $5.00) and went home. He had them on immediately and when his dad came home he rolled his eyes and said, "I can't believe my 7 year old son is wearing those. Caden, you are so lucky to have such a nice Mom." Then Caden gave me the biggest hug and said, "I love you Mom!" It was the best $5.00 I've ever spent.

Oprah always says that being a Mother is the hardest job on Earth. Since having my kids(especially after the 3rd) I have agreed with her. Being a Mother is a very hard job, rewarding but hard. I was sitting on the ground folding laundry and Maddie came over to me saying she had "Wots of ucky snots Mommy." I got a kleenex and wiped her nose. Then I asked Caden to get the hand sanitizer for me. After I used it Jillian used it. She said, "I had to use the hands and tire soap too because my hands were dirty." I tried not to laugh but it was so cute.

Jillian's preschool Christmas program was this weekend and she was so stinking cute! If you know Jillian then she is very shy and afraid of new people and being in the spotlight. Well, all this changed at her program. She was the cutest thing ever! First of all, she was belting out the words so loud Caden had his hands over his ears. Second, she did all the hand motions to the songs. Third, she danced around like crazy! It was so much fun to watch and I only wish I could download the video because it was absolutely the cutest thing I've ever seen.

Eden's Blessing

This morning Eden Noelle was blessed in church. The blessing was beautiful and we are so grateful for all the family and friends who made it to be there for her special day. She wore a white dress that Bryan's mom made for her, a sweater and booties that were made by Bryan's great great grandmother and a blanket made by Bryan's great grandmother.
